About Course

12d Model Stormwater Drainage – Essential Geometric Techniques

Part 1 of a 2 part Course about the Geometric Design of a Stormwater Drainage Network
This Beginners course which will teach you how to set up a project in 12d Model, then create a Network of Nodes and Links (pits and pipes).
You will learn how 12d Model automatically sets pipe invert levels to give minimum cover and minimum grade to your network.
Other courses teach more advanced Geometric Design, and Analysis/Design of the Network.
The topics covered in this course are:
  • Project Setup using a Survey and Road Design project, and sharing data into a ‘Stormwater’ project.
  • Creation of a merged ‘Finished Surface’ tin, labelling creat and sag points, and creating flow arrows to identify overland flow routes.
  • Drafting a Network of Nodes and Links (Pits and Pipes).  Accurately locating nodes (particularly SAG nodes).
  • Creating a Drainage String from CAD linework.
  • Using the Network Editor to grade the network, and assign node names.
  • More advanced grading tools – using minimum cover and minimum grade to set invert levels.
  • Editing 12d Model’s database of nodes and links – the drainage.4d file
  • Learn how IMPORTANT a Cover File is to your design

This is a Beginners course that shows you the tools used for  Stormwater Drainage Geometric Design.
Our other Stormwater Drainage Courses will expand on these Fundamentals skills.

What Will You Learn?

  • Learn the fundamental tools and skills required to setup a project and create a Stormwater Drainage Network using 12d Model.
  • The techniques shown are equally applicable to design of Stormwater or Foul Sewer networks.
